Hey, flist?

This question is for everyone, not just icon-makers.

If you were trying to find a way to express:

(1) "semi-dysfunctional and getting nowhere fast"
(2) "going around in circles til both parties go mad"

through icons, how would you do it? Munch's painting "The Scream" might work for the second one (it would be better, of course, if there were two figures in the painting, not just one), but are there other ways to do it? And what about (1)? I'm not sure whether to go looking for text icons, figurative art, abstract art, etc. I'd love to have some input here. *asks nicely*

Yeah, I was gonna say, the second one's easy, really. The first one might be trickier but Edward Hopper might work.. something like "Freight Car at Truro" or "Rooms by the Sea" or that other one with all those people staring blankly while sitting in armchairs on a porch, etc. For the second one, you could do a google image search with the key word "frustration" for example. I usually proceed that way when I'm making icons: do a google image search with particular keywords.
