Anyone awake out there?

Okay, so it's 3:11 a.m. and why am I online, you ask (especially those of you who know I don't have a computer or internet access at home).  Well, because I'm not home.  Because I'm still at the office.  Because I'll be here the rest of the night and then through another work day.  *stops a moment to do the math*  That means I'll be walking out of here to go home in just another 15.5 hours.  Piece of cake.

I stayed to do work.  Remember that "Just to let you know" post from a few hours ago?  And I've actually been doing work (and playing a little over in the WA world with the natural gas story).  I also keep checking my friends page, but no one seems to be around.  :-(

jenni_snake?  So when do you usually head over to the internet café, anyway?

crazybutsound?  You awake?

When you're on salary, there are no rules.

Actually, it was my choice to stay (just like it was my choice to come in every day of the New Year's weekend). Peace + Quiet = Getting Things Accomplished.

You posting from work, or are you still at home enjoying a nice, leisurely late breakfast?

Work. I'm crafting the masterpice that is my annual report, aka spamming the internets.

We have rules. European Union countries have working time laws, which limit the maximum working week to 48 hours, averaged out over a quarter of the year to allow for occational overtime (with a few exceptions for some medical personnel, deep sea fishing fleets, oil rig workers and the like, who can average their hours out over the year). And you have to have a 13 hour break betweek shift and take at least one continuous two-week holiday break a year. To stop you going round the twist, like.

Life! Intelligent life!

lol

Good morning. Are you just getting ready to go to work?

I go through this every January/February; it's just that once every three years there's the added pleasure of banking regulators camped on our doorstep. That probably means I'm not going to be on lj quite so much during working hours once they're with us. Probably would look bad, don't you think?

Awww. Take care of yourself. Make sure that you are taking vitamins and eating things that are good for you because that will help your body recooperate from the exhaustion.

I actually feel quite energised at the moment. Of course, when I get home tonight (around 8:00 p.m.) I think I'll just set the VCR to tape any programs I might have been planning to watch, because by then I'll probably be slowing down to a crawl. Plus I'll be busy explaining to the cat why I didn't turn up last night to give her anything new for dinner.

You crazy crazy girl. *shakes head* You're going to make yourself sick! And I'm sorry, I slept all morning (I appear to have caught something weird), and then I went out to lunch and shop with Aline. Am back now and I guess you're still around and have started a brand new day. How you can do this is beyond me, I would die! At least, if you had a computer at home maybe you could go home and get some work done there, no?

Feeling better now? It really was quite interesting; whole hours went by without a single new post on my friends list. And here I thought you guys were all posting away madly on the other side of the world while I was tucked up in my bed asleep. Not so, apparently. Ciara finally turned up around 3:30 a.m. and we had a nice chat. Maybe I should just chuck everything and move to Europe; that 35-hour work week she was talking about sounds very tempting right about now.

It sounds insane, Karen, are there more people with you during these working hours? Don't you have time for a nap? Sounds like malls marathon during Christmas time - people who work on malls have to stay there from Friday morning (Dec 23th) to Xmas Eve evening (Dec 24th), working non-stop with moments to nap. Of course they were paid for that but it seems absolutely wrong!

No, Adriana, it was just me. I'm starting to slow down just a little now; will be out of here in another 90 minutes, and home 90 minutes after that. I think I'll be in bed before midnight tonight.

Your icon is lovely. :-)

Like I said, there's a post waiting for you when you have a minute... but I'm trying to figure out if I missed you or not... :-S Bonne nuit! Whenever that may be!

No, I'm still here at work. I did that post just about 11 hours ago, which should have made it around 13:00 your time. I have no idea when you usually go online, though, so was just hoping you might be there to see the post so we could chat a bit. I won't actually get out of the office till my normal time of 18:30, which means I have another four and a half hours to go. Then it's the long bus ride home. I have those last three convos to read, though; I'm sure they'll keep me awake and entertained.

Dominique is back to his usual "I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright" mood in WA, isn't he? I don't know who's more annoyed at him at the moment, Swan or Angie. And Kat, who's been observing all this (not that she's had any time to write about it; gee wonder why, lol) just tells me to be patient and not lose my temper. *groans*

Btw, did you see Jem's comment to my "LJ Friends" picture post? I had to smile.

I thought you'd find the following article interesting, and topical! Damn, it locks it when I link. Hmm... Go to www.globeandmail.com and look for a health article called "Sleep can leave you as groggy as booze". Lol.
