Are you all right?

castalie ?

greedy_dancer ?

I've been reading the reports of the Paris riots in the international press (today's Financial Times article includes a photo of some of the fires that have been set as part of this escalating incident).  Is any of this happening close to where you live / work / go to school?

Unfortunately, here is a Russian take on the situation. I'm going home soon to write a piece. This is all absurd.

Hmm, actually, interesting caption: "Isn't eclecticism characteristic of the French?" That might be a little loose, I can't quite get the right feeling of the comment.

Oh, Vlad knows about Misha's add. He's trying to ignore Western propaganda.

And enjoy the meeting - you'll have a saga to look forward to when you get back.

Oh, good grief! What does the caption say?

Just so you can prepare Vlad ... Misha had a full-page ad in yesterday's New York Times, and I'm probably going to quote it either as a post or a comment later this afternoon (I have a three-hour meeting due to start in a few minutes, so I won't be able to get anything substantive done on LJ until that's over). You can tell him from me, though, that just because he's distracted by Misha and now by Vladimir Kvachkov, whom the FT says plans to run for parliament next month from his prison cell (Vlad must be feeling like he's reliving a bad dream), that's no reason for his behaviour towards Dominique. I'm really quite upset at him.

(Why did LJ post it up there? *sighs*)

Good question ....

I've given up trying to understand the whys and wherefores of LJ. *shrugs*

Erk! I didn't even think of you ... but I didn't know you when you lived in France. Do you call Paris home?
Nov. 3rd, 2005 12:21 pm (UTC)
nope, not at all lol - my family lives in Tours, very safe place *giggles* don't worry, I'm in NZ anyway *shrugs* it's just that I hadn't really paid any attention to the whole thing *giggles*

i'm fine, don't worry *hugs*

actually, i'm a little cut off from the news since i don't have a radio, the internet or tv these days ... but as far as i can tell, in Paris not too many people are really concerned, no one that i know or have seen anyway. it feels like just any other day ...

oh, by the way? i got a note from La Poste this morning saying there's a parcel waiting for me, so i think it's finally arrived! will keep you posted :)

What happened to your internet access and to the tv?

There should be two parcels waiting for you, so ask them to check, okay? One is small and was sent to you almost a month ago; the other is the Halloween surprise.

It seems that french_hobbit still hasn't gotten her Halloween parcel, although the other two Lyon deliveries (Aline and Jem) got through just fine.

*is frustrated*

Don't worry, the rioting hasn't spread to my suburb at all *hugs* And it's not happening in Paris at all either, so GD should be safe too. It's one of those typical suburban messiness *sigh* Though usually when it happens, it only lasts like one night or two and doesn't usually spread like it did this time...

Glad to hear everything's normal where you are!
