alinewrites:  I found a packet from you in my mailbox last night :-), but then I looked inside, and it appears I got someone else's cards and notebook by mistake :-(. The note is addressed to "Chère Jean".  Shall I just put the whole packet in another envelope and send it back to you so you can send it to the person it's meant for?

jenni_snake:  Go take a look at this post:  http://www.livejournal.com/community/minimal_icons/62323.html.  You'll find 33 Alphonso Mucha icons there.

Finally, does anyone know how to say "Happy Birthday" in Russian? A certain world leader is having a birthday today (vlad_impaler, please take note).

Yes I think I noted the wrong name on the package -you received Dargie's package.
Too tired to night to propose any way to make things right. I'm sorry.

Yay! Thank you, Karen. That will be a good replacement brithday present. ;-) Btw, for the record, с днём рождением! (I have been hosting a friend for the past few days and been a bit out of the loop but will be back to commiserate Angela... though am learning a bit more about her, and am torn...)

I thought you'd like the icons. :-)

Thanks for the Russian lesson. Of course, now I'll have to wait a whole year for the opportunity it to use it over in worldaffairs, but what about for you? When is your birthday? I looked at your bio page, but you don't list it.

to commiserate Angela

Er, I think you might want to switch those commiserations over to Gerd, since the stalemate's been broken in her favour and he says he's withdrawing from politics. As for Angela herself, here's what she said to journalists when pressed about how it feels to be the leader of her country: "Es geht mir gut." A lady of few words (unlike a certain French politician of our acquaintance). :-)

You'll also have to wait until the beginning of next September for my next birthday! The third of that month, to be precise. I'm not huge on birthdays, probably why I forgot Vlad's... I better go look up Dominique's, though, he seems like the type who would get all indignant if you forgot his birthday. (When is yours, btw? Or is it on your bio page?)

I am personally torn about Angela... read up on her profile over at the BBC - a social liberal... I'm currently in a postmodern personal reorganization of the world... well, you will see in my next few posts!

(Oh, and sorry about the Russian, but apparantly Angela grew up in East Germany and speaks fluent Russian - how could Vlad not be pleased? How many world leaders speak Russian? Well, outside the CIS...)

My birthday is on the bio page, but to save you the trouble of looking, it's April 8th. If you know anything about Chinese astrology, there's also something there that will tell you the year I was born ....

Thanks for the BBC link. I need to steal some time from work so I can get Angela's LJ bio finished and formally apply to the join the WA game. Of course, since Gerd seems determined to cling to power to the bitter end (just read in this morning's paper that he's going to represent Germany at Hampton Court later this month), I suppose she still has time before she needs to step on stage.

Please tell Vlad from me that while the real Angela may speak fluent Russian, the faux one is limited to things like "Da" and "Nyet"; and until I add Russian to my computer keyboard, I can't even write those in the proper alphabet. ;-)

I heard Gerd was going to go work for Gazprom... don't tell Dominique, he might think Vlad is up to something (Dominique really can be such a prude sometimes). I will let Vlad know that Angela is working through a translator. I think he's just bitter because he somehow gets translators that correct him, talk back to him, get him into trouble. Heh heh... And we'll give Angela time - she does seem quite reserved. Formed any opinions how you're going to play her?

Metal tiger... I think I'm an Earth horse, which should also tell you something. Within twelve years or so - it's a minor margin of error. Doesn't really matter in the end, does it?

(Oh, and I just actually reread that post from your friends getting the wrong packages - the funniest thing that my friend did sending me a care package was somehow, she can't quite figure out how, including one of her bras! Just thought you'd find that amusing...)

I also saw the Gazprom thing thrown out as one of his options. Hopefully Gerd will also stick around WA, though, if only to point out how much better he would have been at running things. As to telling Dominique about Gerd's Russian employment opportunities, well, at the moment D might not care too much, since he might be busy worrying about what Nicolas was up to on that flying visit to London the other day for meetings with the PM and other cabinet ministers, and later more talks with Tony, this time one on one.

As to how to play Angela, I don't know yet. Let's just say for now that I don't see a ménage à trois with Dominique and Vlad in her immediate future. She'd probably be much more likely to invite them over for a nice homecooked meal with her and her husband (and she'd probably do the cooking).

A bra?!? Was anyone around to see the expression on your face when you pulled that out?

One on one talks with Tony? Well, we all know what that could mean!

Oh come on! I think you're not giving Angela enough credit! Though I don't know that Dominique's too keen on her, so that would pose some problems.

Unfortunately no witnesses. And it took me a while to realise what it was, because it's one of those black sports bras, and she sent me socks, so I thought that she had just sent me a bra, too. Why not, lol!
