Bush Two, Part II is off to a rousing start. Colin Powell will be leaving as Secretary of State (the man has moderate views and is an internationalist, so of course he's been marginalized almost since taking on the position). His successor, subject to Senate confirmation, is to be Condoleezza Rice. So much for mending fences and working more closely again with our European allies.
Speaking of the Senate, the conservatives are apparently going to be making an effort to deny Arlen Specter (R-Pennsylvania) the chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Specter is a moderate, and has apparently annoyed the pro-life lobby by saying that he doubts a strong anti-abortion Supreme Court nominee could be confirmed.
It's going to be a long four years.
At least it's Tuesday, and there's SVU tonight.
