Just in time for Christmas!

From today's New York Times:

A little more than a month into Donald J. Trump’s presidency, it’s safe to say that the satire business in America is booming. Penguin Press announced today that Kurt Andersen and Alec Baldwin will team up to write “You Can’t Spell America Without Me: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump.” The book is scheduled for publication in November. Mr. Baldwin (as President Trump) will read the audiobook version.

Mr. Andersen is a novelist and the host of the public radio program “Studio 360,” but perhaps most relevant for this new project is his experience as a founding editor of the satirical Spy magazine in the 1980s. It was Spy that now famously referred to the future president as a “short-fingered vulgarian.”

I wonder how many copies are being planned for the initial print run....

Yes, I have to admit I've been enjoying SNL a lot since they introduced Alec Baldwin as Trump. I also love McCarthy as Spicer!

Silver lining I guess, we get good comedy out of tragedy.

Melissa McCarthy is wonderful! There's apparently already Emmy buzz about her portrayal of Spicer, and I think it's well-deserved. :-)

Betting on the fact that he will still be in office then, and not long over and done with.

I have a horrible feeling we're going to be stuck with him for the full four years. :-(

Yes, and even if he did go, he'd be replaced by something just as bad.

I know. And Pence would sound reasonable, not in your face crazy like Trump. I read an editorial this weekend that said one of the reasons it took so long for people to wake up to Cheney was because of that nice, soothing headmaster's voice of his.

I bought a copy of "It Can't Happen Here" on Saturday....

Exactly my thinking. Pence would be so smooth and work so well with Congress that people wouldn't bat an eye.

Even if somehow Pence could be implicated and we could get rid of both (like Nixon-Agnew), we'd still have four more between us and decency (Mattis as Sec. of Defense comes after all these horrors):

Speaker of the House of Representatives (Paul Ryan)
President pro tempore of the Senate (Orrin Hatch)
Secretary of State (Rex Tillerson)
Secretary of the Treasury (Steven Mnuchin)

The only thing that can save us is electing a Democratic Congress in 2018, and a lot of harm will be done in the next two years, even some miracle made that possible.
