Last night's episode of Lost (2 x 03): Wow! So much going on, and the potential for lots of new storylines. In deference to the people who haven't seen the episode yet, I'll just say this:
- Locke's backstory is getting more and more interesting, and clearly there's a crucial event in his past that we haven't seen yet.
- An old familiar face from Oz made his first appearance on the show, although I have to say that seeing him with hair was a little odd. Still, he had one of his kitchen tools with him, and clearly hasn't forgotten how to use it.
- An interesting thing happens if those "cursed" numbers of Hurley's that have appeared throughout the show (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) are added together. People who've seen the episode will know immediately what the total represents. People who haven't seen it yet should file the total away and watch for it.
As to Serenity, I haven't seen the film (and don't plan to), nor did I ever watch the television show Firefly. But I know that a lot of people on my flist are excited about the film, and I thought they'd appreciate this tiny quote from a short review of the film by Nigel Andrews in today's Financial Times: "Halfway through I thought: isn't this what Star Wars would have been like if it had been good?". High praise indeed!
ETA: One more thing about Lost: The very last bit of the trailer for next week's episode is a completely jaw-dropping moment. Enough said.
