Baltimore

Flew to Baltimore, Maryland from Los Angeles this morning after my typical pre-travel all-nighter (trying to decide what I'll need for the next six days, collecting everything, packing with an eye on the clock since the airport shuttle was picking me up at 5:45 a.m., rounding up the necessary work/conference materials that I overlooked the first time around, etc. etc. etc.). And in two weeks I'll be doing it all over again, this time for 16 days in the U.K. At least that flight doesn't leave until 4:00 p.m., which means I can actually go to bed the night before and pack in the morning! :-)

The hotel here is nice -- right in the Inner Harbor. The Aquarium looks to be just a block away, and there's a big Barnes & Noble bookstore close at hand. That's going to be convenient for picking up my Financial Times newspaper every day after the conference sessions end. My hotel (a Marriott) doesn't sell the FT; the helpful hotel staff member wasn't quite sure what sort of paper it is, but suggested I look for at at the nearby CVS Pharmacy (somehow I don't think so, but I just might check to see if Baltimore has a hidden intellectual side I wasn't aware of....).

Tomorrow morning I'm going to get up early and take the train down to Washington to visit the new Museum of the American Indian. Back to Baltimore in the late afternoon for the conference's opening reception, and then a dinner hosted by an investment group. Or I might wait and do Washington on Thursday, and skip the flying visit to New York. Right now, though, I think I'm just going to go to bed. Ciao!

Re: Baltimore
One would think....

I did decide to give New York a pass. Gorgeous here today, so I'm going to have breakfast and then spend the day exploring Baltimore; will do D.C. on Thursday. Then on Friday, I'll have the morning and early afternoon to do more in Baltimore; shuttle back to the airport picks me up at my hotel at 3:30 p.m.
