Office Move, Part 2 and Messages for Jem

Take off the caption "Swirl of Ideas" from this icon created by crazybutsound and replace it with "Chaos", and you'll have a good picture not only of my state of mind this day-before-moving-day morning, but the state of my office as well.  And am I resolutely turning my back on all things LJ today and getting on with my packing.  Do you even have to ask?

Actually, after I finish this post I really do have to put my shoulder to the wheel, my nose to the grindstone, and every other part of my anatomy to the place I think it will do the most good, and get serious about packing.  At this stage I refuse to even think about the unpacking part of the move that's still to come.  I'm giving serious thought, however, to giving up my morning coffee on Friday (settling-in-and-unpacking day) in favour of a screwdriver or Bloody Mary (strictly for the vitamin C, naturally).

~~**~~**~~

Okay,  on to other things.

Jem, I looked at the operating instructions brochure for my TV/DVD/VCR combination last night.  This is what it says:

Region Management Information

This unit is designed and manufactured to respond to the Region Management Information that is recorded on a DVD disc.  If the Region number described on the DVD disc does not correspond to the Region number of this unit, this unit cannot play this disc.

  • The region number of this player is "1"
  • The player will play DVD-Video marked with labels containing "1" or "ALL"

Does that answer your question?

Also (for Jem again).  You were right about the Mountie lecture.  Thanks for putting your two cents in!

Thanks!

Btw, how many cats do you have, and what are their names?

I've got three. The oldest is Hermione, the younger two (bro and sis) are Ziggy and Angie. If you're a Bowie fan the names should make sense.

Do you have pets (apart from Spike)?

Chloe (the soon-to-be-18 (May) 6.5 lb. part-Calico/part-Siamese cat who's been running my household since I got her when she was a 6-week old kitten). In my less charitable moments (for example when I'm sitting on the sofa and she MUST be on my lap regardless of the the fact that I'm trying to read/write/eat/drink coffee/etc.) I've taken to referring to her as She Who Must Be Obeyed. But I love her dearly, so you might occasionally send a cookie her way if you're so inclined. She'll purr if you do. :-)

Let's face it, if you're really a cat person, it's totally redundant to make statements like, '(they've) been running the household since...' 'Cause if you're a cat person you know how it works, that dogs have owners but cats have staff. Worshippers, perhaps I should say. My housemates Himalayan has just had two kittens, the whole household takes it in regular turns to gather round the 'shrine' (cardboard box) and make obeisances. Helpless kittens wield the most power of all.

"But I love her dearly, so you might occasionally send a cookie her way if you're so inclined. She'll purr if you do. :-)"

OK. I was thinking of putting another cookie up later, so if I do you can tell Chloe it's for her. Anything for a purr. :D

That, is so very very true.
