Happy New Year!

I've been very absent from LJ recently, and that probably isn't going to change much, although I DO intend to get the rest of the Scotland vacation posts done (yes, Tavi, I see you rolling your eyes at this point, but I mean it). Still, since I'm the only one in my department who had to work today *grumbles*, I thought I'd tear myself away from the spreadsheets long enough to wish everyone on my flist all the best in 2009.

I also want to say "Thank you!" to the people I heard from at the holidays: babycakesin, castalie, catheights, desert_rifka, jenni_snake, kleio_caissa, luvmax1, maddiec24, maggie33, pride_of_erin, rosybug, and tobyfan. The cards were a delight, and I have a colleague here at work who's going to be thrilled when I give her the foreign stamps that came with a few of them. :-)

Extra thanks to Jen, Robin, and Tavi (who all know why). (Robin, the snowflake arrived in perfect condition, and it's simply beautiful; it's going to live here in my office at least until the spring.)

Thanks also (in advance) to foudebassan, whose contribution to my holiday cheer appears to be taking the long, slow, scenic route. I'll let you know when it finally arrives!

If there's anyone else I should have thanked but haven't, please let me know. It's always possible Fou's card found a traveling companion or two along the way....

I was afraid it'd gone back to me (it's happened before!) but it wasn't here waiting for me when I came back, so it must be suspended somewhere over the Atlantic...

It arrived safely on Saturday. Merci! :-)

I hope you like it :)

Did I ever tell you my university degree is in History? With impecunious historians among the cast of characters, liking it is probably a given. :-)
