A few days ago msdaccxx posted that there was a rumour (which was later amended) saying that Brian Eno might challenge Tony Blair in the next elections. I pointed out to her that where I live the celebrities-going-into-politics thing is old news (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Sonny Bono, and (God bless the people of Minnesota) Jesse "The Body" Ventura).

But now I see that the U.S. and U.K. have been thinking small. This morning's news on the radio reported that Bono (U2, not the late Mr. Cher) is being considered for the post of president of the World Bank. Apparently his social activism is making him a serious candidate for the job.

So now I want to know ... does this mean that we'll be seeing David Bowie replace Kofi Annan as the next U.N. Secretary General?

When I heard that on the news, my first thought was, "So -- April Fool's Day came early this year?" LOL
