Before I lose my nerve

I took this meme from rileyc

List five fictional people -- from television, movies, books, whatever -- that you had a crush on as a child (or early teens).  Then post this on your LiveJournal so other people can know what a dork you've always been.

  1. Ilya Kuryakin (David McCallum) -- The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
  2. Artemus Gordon (Ross Martin) -- The Wild, Wild West (the TV show)
  3. Number Six (Patrick McGoohan) -- The Prisoner
  4. Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) -- Dark Shadows
  5. Hilary Shenstone -- Tryst, by Eswyth Thane

Oh, god, Barnabas Collins.  *cringes and looks around for a dark corner to go hide in*

LOL Nah, I don't think any of can throw stones at you. *g*

Besides, I remember Barnabas being incredibly popular at the time, so you have a lot of company. I liked him too, although I did favor Quentin a little bit more.

Actually, once Quentin came on the show he put Barnabas in the number two spot for me. I just couldn't remember the actor's name ... naturally now I do (David Selby).

Do you remember how Barnabas wore his hair over his forehead. *g*

Oh, I do remember that hairstyle. *g* I guess it was supposed to give him a Byronic look or something.

I remember Quentin's mutton chop sideburns too. Also not the best look in the world 30+ years. LOL

Most of the time it is embarrassing to look back and see who I was love with then, and how dorky they look to me now. Once in a while time proves kind, however. I adored Christopher Plummer in Sound of Music, and can still watch that and fall in love with the Captain all over again.

You won't get me to watch The Sound of Music unless a revisionist cut is ever released that has Julie Andrews falling off a mountain one day. Sorry, but for me she's so cloyingly sweet in that film that it sets my teeth on edge. I'm in total agreement about Christopher Plummer, however.
