Ian Richardson

I heard the news yesterday on LJ that Ian Richardson had died. He was the "Grey Poupon man" in commercials that once ran on American television. Hopefully, however, most of the people reading this will remember two of his marvellous public television roles. The first that I saw was his portrayal of Bill Haydon, in the production of John Le Carré's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy. The second, of course, was the deliciously evil Francis Urquhart in House of Cards. As Urquhart, he had a signature line that's perfect for any politician. girl_undone made an icon of the quote *points* and has offered it to anyone who wants it. You'll find her post here: http://community.livejournal.com/book_icons/667425.html.

Oh, that's too bad, he was a favorite of mine.

I'm sorry. He was an amazing actor. His Francis Urquhart was the epitome of the
cunning, ambitious, scheming politician.

That's so sad. I loved Ian Richardson and House of Cards trilogy. And that icon is perfect.
